Heroin

Heroin as a street drug is a highly addictive. I first took heroin to help the come down from crack. Eventually, I stopped using crack cocaine and took purely heroin.

Heroin is a light brown powder and comes, usually, contaminated with other products. One of these products is some times cocaine.

You will know if the heroin is contaminated because it will taste different to usual dark (dark is street slang for heroin) and some times it will not burn cleanly on the foil.

Heroin makes you physically sick. The first time I took heroin was after a crack session with a friend. I was driving at the time and had to drive my friend home after taking the speed ball (slang for when you take heroin and crack cocaine together) and then drive home my self. I did not feel confident behind the wheel of the car and could have easily caused a fatal accident through my negligence as a driver.

When I arrived home that evening, high, I drank some coffee and immediately vomited my guts out. This is one of the reasons for the weight loss. Eventually it stops, but initially, and for many months, you vomit every time you take heroin. Perhaps some people remain in side their limits and are not nausious with useage. But for my self, consistantly taking more and more each time, I would consistantly be sick with my heroin useage.

The side effects of heroin are mainly positive ones. They regulate your bowels superbly, making people suffering from loose stools gain firmness in them they never had before. Heroin is the ultimate medicine. As a user with a regular fix, I never fell ill during my time on heroin. Users often report a benefit in mental health issues too.

One problem I faced smoking contaminated heroin was that the heroin began to become difficult to inhale. I already had severely weakened lung capacity from 15 years of marijuana use and heroin was the only option to take at the latter end of my drug use and even that proved difficult to inhale in the end.

To actually take heroin you require foil. Either tin foil or aluminium foil. The foil is burnt on the shiny side to remove impurities from the smoke other wise the heroin vapour is mixed with foil fumes. Then you create two peices of kit from the foil. A toot (A heroin tube or pipe to catch the vapours) and a sheet to run the heroin on. On the flat sheet of foil, a groove is made and the powdered heroin is placed at the edge of the foil. Then the heroin is heated from the under side gentlely until it turns to oil. This oil is then ran down the length of the foil, and as you do so, holding the toot in your mouth you chase the beetle (slang for the heroin oil patch) down the foil inhaling the smoke. This is known as chasing the dragon or in other slang doing lines. The toot is often passed from mouth to mouth between users as each user has their few lines shared in a group of addicts.

Smoking heroin is one of the safest ways of taking the substance. Overdose is very difficult to achieve as the heroin is taken gradually over each line inhaled rather than administered by a needle in one dose which can prove fatal if the purity of the heroin is different to what the user usually takes for a fix.

People whom become severely addicted to heroin take the short road to hell and start pinning up (slang for injecting their self). A friend of mine started doing this and because he was in rehab at the time they came and fitted a safe box for his needles, lime crystals, and rubber band to strap his arm. They gave him a regular supply of needles too. But, he lost a lot of weight from heroin, I personally lost 3 stone in the first two months of use.

To inject heroin you mix the powder with lime in a mental cap with handle known as a spoon or actually use a spoon it self and then heat the mixture from the underside. The lime when heated keeps the heroin in liquid form long enough for the user to place some gauze on top of the heroin mix to use as a filter when the needle sharp takes up the mix in to the barrel. Then, with strap on arm or leg or neck a vein is found to inject in to and as my friend explained at the time when you break a vein as the needle sharp pushes through the other side of the vein it hurts severely and absesses can form after wards at the injection spot.

The high from heroin lasts roughly eight hours give or take a few hours and it is better than any drug high you will ever encounter. That said, you will soon find your self requiring a maintenance dose where by you will not feel normal and actually feel quite ill until you recieve your daily fix of heroin. The high you used to receive no longer exists unless you take seriously high doses of the drug which in effect a user will never do because they know that the money they have allocated to purchasing heroin will last a week or more if took as maintenance doses rather than using all the bags to chase the high which will only last a day leaving them rattling (slang for withdrawal from the substance) for the remainder of the week. For the smart user that is not an option.

The Cure

Subutex is the answer to heroin. Methadone is an old fashioned drug where the user can remain using heroin on top of the meth and probably will do so until the day they die, taking both at the same time. But, with subutex, the user has to stop because subutex is a heroin blocker. Subutex binds to the opiate receptors in the brain making any craving for heroin go away and also stopping the withdrawal from heroin dead in its tracks. Because subutex is such a strong opiate in it self and binds more strongly to opiate receptors in the brain, heroin, can not connect to give you a high any more.

This user had a choice, take subutex, or take methadone, I took subutex and have been clean for eight months. My friend who quit at the same time took meth and is now pinning up (regrettably._

I wanted to stop because I was sick of the life style of always chasing the next fix. And the days when I went with out were pure hell. It is hard to explain but it is like the devil has a hold of you and is shaking all the life right out when you do not have any heroin. It is pain, shakes, cold hot sweating, cramps, insanity, dependency.

Basically, heroin is an evil drug and I would not wish any one to ever take it. I made a big mistake thinking I could take it occasionally and not get hooked but the addiction is far worse than any cigarette or rock.

I can take rock and go with out - but not heroin. Heroin grabs a hold of you like nothing else in this life and not love nor money can help you.

The only thing what turned around was that I found subutex and with out that drug I'd be dead by now.
